Uhuru and Raila confront each other after public meeting

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his rival Raila Odinga on Friday had a public confrontation when they met at the burial of former Nairobi Mayor Samuel Mbugua.

While speaking at the funeral, Raila called Uhuru his younger brother then went on to ask him to show respect for the elderly.

He said, “Uhuru is my younger brother. Na mimi nimesema heshimu mzee.”

Speaking after Raila’s speech, the president responded that he indeed respects the his elders. However, he asked Raila to respect the will of the people.

The late former Mayor was father to female politician Rachel Shebesh.

Raila and Uhuru are currently engaged in a high on an ongoing battle to win Kenya’s presidential seat come October 26th in a repeat election.
