A story a day is a segment on Hot 96 morning show (The Hot Breakfast) hosted by Jeff Koinange and Jalang’o where listeners are given an opportunity to share their life experiences, struggles and success with the aim of inspiring other People.

Kanze narrated her story with lots of pain giving a clear picture of how things went down until her first born daughter died while she was only three months old.

According to Kanze, she got pregnant at a time she was working at a Fast Food Cafe in Nairobi.

“I got Pregnant while working at a fast food Café in town called Vesbar. After getting pregnant I was forced to back home and take care of my pregnancy. While at Home I got an opportunity to join College to do short IT course at Mosongari. All this time I was carrying my pregnancy in privacy, only one of my very close friends knew I was pregnant because I had gone with her for Crisis pregnancy at Pumwani. My Mother wanted me to be a journalist but I wanted to be like my Aunt who was a nurse.”

“Out of fear and the need to prove to my parents that I was the innocent good girl, I wanted to give out my baby for adoption, I knew my mother will kill me if she finds out I was pregnant. So I tricked them to allow me stay in Hostels so that I can play safe, because I Knew if I stay at home people will know I am pregnant."

“Being my first time pregnancy, I did not know what to do, so I lied to my grandmother that I have to go back to the hostels and do some laundry. Reaching at the hostel, I talked to my friend and we took a Taxi to Pumwani. At Pumwani I received by the nurse who was in charge if Crisis Pregnancy. I labored for a few hours, before I could deliver, the nurse who was handling me, was called for an emergency, she handed over to her male colleague, who didn’t know that I wanted to give my child out on adoption. You know when you are giving out your child for adoption, you are not supposed to hear her cry or even hold her to avoid bonding. So the nurse help me deliver and gives me the child. At that time my instincts started questioning if it was wise for me to give away my child."

The news anchor mentioned that without her knowledge, her friend knew that her aunt used to work somewhere near the Pumwani Hospital. The Friend went to report to the aunt, that Kanze was experiencing stomach Pains and had been admitted at Pumwani.

She had no clothes for her child because she knew that she would give her away for adoption, but her plan had failed after the nurse who was supposed to help her was called for another emergency.

“So, I asked my bed mate to look after my baby as I go to take a shower, upon coming out of the shower I saw my mother right beside my daughter. I was shocked until I could not even talk. She had cried her eyes out. Then she called by my home name “Beatrice” Kwani mimi ni mama mbaya aje mpaka huwezi niambia uko na mimba. She picked my daughter and i was discharged coz that was my last day in hospital. I was in a dilemma, as I never knew where I was going to take the baby, because in my mind I knew she will be adopted, but the plan had backfired.

“We went home and after a few months I was allowed to go back to college and sit for my final exams. After the exams I went to stay with my Aunt, while doing some hustle here and there.”

“One Morning my Aunt just told me that I should go home. I did know what was going on, I book I car with one of Aunts and head home, we arrive at home I find so many people at our compound. I was shocked to see so many people, I thought something bad had happened to my Mum. Then I saw my mum all broken and crying , I rushed to the house and saw my late daughter Natasha lying lifeless on bed with a smile. She died with a smile. She had died the night before. The incident broke me so much, it made me feel like God was punishing me, remembering that I did not want the child at the first place."

“My mother told me that Natasha Passed away at night while sleeping. She says she realized that that night the baby had "shit" on herself something that was never her norm.” after changing her diapers, she realized that Natasha was not reacting as always. She lifted her up and that’s when she realized she was very still, then she just smiled and passed on”

“I went into some kind of depression, I felt unworthy for almost a year, I was battling self-esteem seeing like God did want me to continue being Natasha’s mother. I was very hurt by the incidents, after that I came back to Nairobi and I was able to get admission to study Mass Commination."

Kanze stated that joining college gave her the opportunity to go back to Church where she jump started her life again.

Currently the News anchor is a single mother, who co-parents with the Baby Daddy of her son who is now 6 years.

During a segment on Hot 96, the beautiful news anchor emotionally narrated her journey to success, where she started off as a waitress at her Grandfathers Fast Food Restaurant along the busy Nairobi- Mombasa Highway.

“So she sent me to my grandfather’s Petrol station along Mombasa Road where he had a Fast Food Café called Le Café . I started off in the Kitchen Pealing Potatoes, because that was the starting point for everyone. Day one I checked in, given an overall and directed to the Kitchen. After I while I graduated to washing dishes , that was hardest job I have ever done. You wash dishes until your hands lose the senses of hot things.. That’s why I respect all the dish washers in every Hotel. When I see somebody mishandling dish washers it pains me so much. Days past and I was promoted to a waitress.”

Being a waitress was not easy as she had to remember more than10 orders at ones. She stayed at her Grandfathers facility for almost one year and a half then got another hustle in the CBD.

“After sometime I got another job at a café called Vesbar. I worked with them for 7 month. While at Vesbar is when I got pregnant with my first daughter who later passed on after three months."

The pregnancy forced her to go back to home to take care of her growing bump. She carried it in privacy with plans of giving of out her new born for Adoption. Things did not go has planned and in the end she lost the baby.

“I remember by that time KBC was only taking student from Kenya Institute of Mass Communication. So we forced to be everywhere to avoid being kicked out. I could do news, be a Assistant -producer and even recite poems.

While at KBC, I was reading news on KBC Radio Taifa, so one day the new anchor on duty had not checked in, so I was forced to step in for him. After the news the editor in Chief who was Hirim Mucheke (Director KIMC now) called me and told that I was good, and I should take up the news bulleting.

After a few days, I was taken to TV as a Swahili news anchor, where now my journey on TV started. My first day was very tricky after being paired with Bahati Makusini, while on air I lost my voice, the struggles went on for some time but I got better with time.

She worked with KBC for almost 6 years, before crossing over to Citizen TV.

Akothee reveals shocking details about her Fiancée on her Fathers Birthday

<h1>President Uhuru Kenyatta and his rival Raila Odinga on Friday had a public confrontation when they met at the burial of former Nairobi Mayor Samuel Mbugua.</h1>

While speaking at the funeral, Raila called Uhuru his younger brother then went on to ask him to show respect for the elderly.

Collins ‘Collo’ Majale was a household name for years back in early 2000 when he and his boy band of three (Collo, Nyashinksi and Roba) took over the airwaves with club bangers such as Tuendelee and Swing Swing.

However, their fame was short lived when the trio broke up and all of them followed different paths.

While not much is known about Roba, Nyashinski and Collo recently got back in the music industry with a bang.

For Collo, a few things changed. Instead of continuing to create steamy panty dropping tunes, he came back a reformed man and released hit song, Bazokizo which is now riding high as one of the most popular songs in the country.

But for change to happen, his wife of eight years Phoebe Ayaya Majala revealed that things had taken a turn for the worst.

Speaking to Parents Magazine, she spoke of a broken marriage, separation and money struggles she never thought would be part of her life story.

They met each other at a time when Phoebe had just lost her mother and was going through a difficult time and had gone back to partying and drinking.

She was introduced to Collo by a friend while nursing a hangover. Still, they connected and soon they started living together.

But their love life was not as romantic as she thought it would be. Phoebe, an established Advocate of the High Court of Kenya confesses to constantly fighting with Collo over his carelessness and his party life as a member of the then popular band of three, Kleptomaniacs.

Phoebe confesses to have reached a point where she couldn’t take it anymore. She upped and left with their daughter and moved back in with her father who was exhilarated by her return.

She reveals that her father never liked Collo and didn’t think that he deserved her as his wife.

“He wasn’t exactly Collo’s fan. He was also not convinced Collo deserved his daughter – an advocate of the High Court of Kenya!”

However, their daughter, Tawala's cries for her father made Phoebe move back in with Collo just weeks after separation. They lived like strangers, not speaking to each other for weeks.

It took a book, The Power of a Praying Wife- brought to Phoebe by her sister, for life at the Majalas’ house to change.

She was determined to introduce her man to God, however, Collo was one tough nut to crack. She says it took so much for him to finally agree to go to church.

Financial issues came banging at their door when Collo was fired from his job after losing an office laptop.

“Before then, we had never had a problem with money. We had everything and extras, including the money! In a flash it was gone and we found ourselves in debt,” she explains.

Stripped of the glitz n’ glam and left with nothing but each other, Collo and Phoebe had to get real and iron out their problems.

“We couldn’t hide from each other because we were all we had. We were stripped before each other. None of our friends and family members knew how deep our situation was,” she adds.

It is then that the duo went back to church and dedicated their lives to Christ.

Collo went back into music, only this time, he was a man of God with the intentions to win more souls to Christ.

His song, Bazokizo is not only of the most popular Gospel songs in the country right now, it is considered one of the most influential with its upbeat dance moves.

Battles scars healed and a bright future ahead for the Majalas, Phoebe expresses her gratitude for who her husband and the father of her child has become.

<h1>A 17-year-old student at Dagoretti Boys High School is wanted by the police for beating a colleague to death.</h1>

According to Nairobi DCI Chief Ireri Kamwende, a fight between the two form-three boys last week turned for the worst when one of the boys was hit severely on the head leading to his death.

The deceased, Ibrahim Athumani succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday at a Nairobi hospital. He was admitted with severe injuries including a broken jaw after the fight Sunday 17 September.

It has been a dark school term for Kenyan high schools. In just one month many have been victims of arson, students killed and various discrepancies within school administrations unearthed.

Just a few weeks ago, nine form-one lives were lost in a tragic inferno at Moi Girls Nairobi, yesterday an Officer Commanding Station (OSC) was arrested and relieved of his duties after he drunkenly shot at a young school boy who was fetching water at a nearby tap.

The student is wanted by the police for murdering his colleague.

<h1>As the 14 year old student of Moi Girls High school got arraigned in court, Kenyans are on the look out to find out how the court will handle the matter.</h1>

Though not yet charged with any crime, the form one student has been detained by the police as the main suspect for the school’s Kabaranet dormitory that was burnt of Saturday leading to the death of 9 girls and scores being injured.

This has sparked various reactions from Kenyans with most blaming the school and trying to find out,w what sort of reprieve the courts will give the bereaved parents.

Here’s a few facts about Kenyan law and children criminal cases.

This is the age below which a child cannot be held to be criminally responsible even when they have committed a crime. According the Kenyan Penal Code Act 63, the age of criminal responsibility is eight (8) years and above. While this is a young number, the court must conclude that the child at the time of performing the crime understood that what they were doing was against the law. If they were unaware then they cannot be sued. This rule is limited to children above 8 years of age but below 12 years old.

Just like every other type of law, the court must consider certain principles to ensure that the case is handled in such a way that will cater for the child’s rights according to the Children Law Act. The court must consider the Best interest principle which states that all actions concerning children must be undertaken with their best interests at heart.

The court must also follow the non-discrimination principle that dictates that a child brought forth in the courts of law shall not be victimized on ground of origin, sex, religion, creed, custom, language, opinion, conscience, color, birth, social, political, economic or other status, race, disability, tribe residence or local connection.

And at the end of it all the maximum survival and development principle must have been adhered to. This means that whatever the direction the case will take in court, all actions affecting the child should be directed in ensuring that her life is protected and that she develops in the best possible way.

In a criminal case no. As the prime suspect the girl will be brought before the court as her own person but she will be prosecuted in the Children’s court.

According to Children and family lawyer, Elkana Mogaka the school can be sued, “The bereaved parents have the right to sue the school for not meeting the safety standards given in a report written by the Ministry of Education.”

Allegations by other students reveal that the said suspect was suicidal and had attempted to kill herself three times. According to the Daily Nation, investigations reveal that the suspect told the police that she wanted to be a writer after completing school with a special inclination to 'magic and cultish' stories.
