The report from a UN special investigation found that a lack of leadership in the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) caused the death of dozens of civilians in Juba when government forces engaged rebels loyal to disposed Vice President Riek Machar. UN accuses UNMISS of failing to protect civilians.

The Kenyan government reacted in fury following the sacking of Lt-Gen Johnson Mogoa Kimani Ondieki. In a statement to the media, Foreign Affairs Ministry condemned the decision by the UN chief saying it will didn’t offer solutions to quell the violence in the war-ravaged South Sudan.

“The Government of Kenya is convinced that the manner in which the United Nations and its Independent Special Investigation have handled this grave matter will not address the root causes of the unfortunate incidences in South Sudan nor does it offer a sustainable solution to the recurring violence in South Sudan.” The statement read in part.

The statement by Foreign Affairs Ministry also directed that the over 1000 Kenyan troops involved in peace keeping mission in South Sudan to return back home immediately.

“It (Kenya) has therefore decided to reject the decision to dismiss Lt. Gen. Johnson Ondieki, as well as the offer to nominate a replacement, Withdraw, immediately, Kenyan troops currently in deployment in South Sudan, and discontinue plans to contribute to the Regional Protection Force, and disengage from the South Sudan Peace Process.”

Lt-Gen Johnson Mogoa Kimani Ondieki, the commander of the UN peacekeeping force in South Sudan, was sacked by Ban Ki-moon on November 1 2016 following a damning report that showed failure to protect civilians during violence in Juba earlier this year.

However, the delivery had a frightening scare after moments to the birth scans revealed the umbilical cord had wrapped itself on the baby’s neck.

This necessitated an emergency CS. After a successful surgery the baby still had to be give an oxygen mask as he was not breathing well.

The mask stayed overnight but as the relieved father revealed, the bay is now fine breathing independently and feeding quite enthusiastically too. The new mom is also in good condition.

A grateful and clearly excited Gerald expressed his joy as he celebrated stepping into parenthood. The young boy has been named Travis Jumba Langiri and weighed a health 3.8 kilograms.

“I say now because there was a bit of a scare when scans revealed the umbilical cord was around the babys neck and therefore an emergency CS had to be done.The surgery was successful and the baby was rushed to the nursery...only to be put an oxygen mask because he wasn't breathing quite well. He stayed on the oxygen mask overnight and today we are happy to announce that he is out of the mask and breathing independently ...and oh yeah...he just took his 1st poop..some green slimy shit...and is also sucking on that breast (milk) like a pro..like father like son..All the worries are finally gone...Bae is a damn strong woman.Super proud of her..Omundu”

“My Government acknowledges the potential in the film industry. Let me reiterate that no film maker should be charged any fees to make a movie in Machakos. I urge film makers and stakeholders in the industry to take advantage of digital broadcasting and create quality content for an ever growing market for local content.”

You're not only thrown into a cage crowded with feral male rappers who will do anything and spit anything to remain at the top of the food chain,you're surrounded by all manner of walls - From a hostile media to marauding male producers to unscrupulous promoters, shoddy managers, gluttonous handlers and very steep recording fees.

It's a ride that's never easy -  not just for the female but also the male rappers.

Kenya's music industry is still crawling and lumbering up the path as it lacks an element of professionalism and proper channeling that is required of an industry that rakes in billions of Shillings annually.

Here, most artists edge it out on their own ; it's pretty much a one man show that means that the artist gets to handle their own publicity, pay their own recording fees, book their own studio time, hassle around for their own performances and carry around their little schedules with them - even to bed

Faced with such arduous artistic hostility, the final musical output can either be brilliant masterpieces or third-rate, studio regurgitation.

And that's where most of our female rappers end up - worn out, beat, lacking in content, sloppy and forgotten.

On one hand we have Wangechi, a supremely gifted rapper whose mastery of the flow and microphone prowess is as outstanding - if not awe-inspiring- as that of Lauryn Hill, one of the world's most esteemed lyricist and rappers that ever loved.

On the other hand, we have Noti Flow, an edgy, controversial character that has learned to push the boundaries, shock audiences, capitalize on social media and bank on notoriety to advance her rap career.

It's just that, she has no business being a rapper. At all. At all.

But in an industry that's so lacking in female emcees, Noti Flow seems like a godsend. And a necessary evil if only to fill up the echoing void created by the severe scarcity of notable rappers of the female gender.

Trouble is,the best and the most skilled in the arena don't always stick around long enough, release more material and remain as active and as hungry as they need to be.

The worst we have in the pool tend to be the most active in all sectors - releasing song after song, hitting up the bloggers, getting news features and remaining very active and visible across all social platforms.

Rappers like STL and Wangechi are obviously the baddest we have in the game right now. Sadly,none of the two seems to have a vibrancy and prolific output of material month after month.

And even when STL does drop a new song,it's always downright horrendous.

I don't know when is the last time Wangechi released anything new. And buzzworthy.

Another downside to her is that, despite her massive skills and unmatchable adeptness at rap , Wangechi remains very unenamored by the mainstream and tends to always want to do stuff aimed at the underground audience - and we all know that doesn't pay here. It never will.

"Wangechi is very talented. Probably the best family rapper we have. But still, she fails to keep her audience fed and her fans satisfied. Her music releases are very far in between. And none of her songs are radio worthy. It's just sad..  Considering what an incredible talent that young woman truly is, " says Kamah Burnz, a music producer and talent scout at Burnz Entertainment.

Rappers like Petra too offered huge promise after she wowed Kenyans with her fantastic rap in the Ligi Soo mega remix.

But today, Petra's talent has been gobbled up by senseless blog stories, love scandals and probably her romantic commitment to a music video producer.

And even when she raps, it's not in her own songs -  but in some mish-mash sort of thing that lumps her in the same clubby beat with her more ferocious and popular male colleagues.

"Female rappers have always been swallowed up by the industry's own predatory behavior. There's so much to stall their progress and dim their star. It's either a relationship, a sex scandal, lack of finances, lack of proper management... They just tend to die off sooner or later. It's never lasts ... ", Burnz adds.

Unfortunately, Nazizi,who many have considered the mother of rap, seems to have found other callings too and ditched her first love,too.

Once a ferocious rapper, with an undisputed excellence at the booth and credited with some of the hottest and most outstanding rap verses of all time, Nazizi was swallowed up by marriage and motherhood.

And then,by reggae and dancehall vibes.

"I miss Nazizi. The rapper. The bad girl of rap. The best to ever to this. I'm not sure I know what to do with this Nazizi we have today... This bomboclat-chanting, turban-wearing rastafari aficionado,''  says a fan.

Enter Kush Tracey and Noti Flow and the rest of the pop ilk that just yells into the mic and puts on an outrageous flamboyance for show.

What's sad is that, the likes of Wangechi doesn't posses the kind of media mastery, blog mentions, mad exposure and headline-grabbing antics normally found with these other less than stellar rappers.

Also, the media seems to not readily embrace new female rappers preferring to instead shine a light more on the singers than the femcees.

"It's easier to out a new singer out there. Look at Phy... She's fresh and young. Also, she's easy to sell to the public. Female rappers have always been a headache. One, they don't command masses and two, they wouldn't pull masses to a gig leave alone bring down the roof on a performance. Case in point, Femi One..., "  Irari, an editor at Ghafla and also an events organizer says.

Despite the fact that she's young and upcoming, her style and sound on stuck in the past,in the old eras of Kalamashaka and in the dark dungeons of Dandora.

Her sound is more at home with the Ghetto Radio late night listeners as she breezes around with a hardcore, more wordplay-oriented slumdog vibe.

No matter what is done, the Female rapdom in Kenya will never expand and the players in it will never branch out to bigger things - or emerge as huge stars of their particular arena.

Daily,the field keeps dying. And the girls scattered in it keep burning out, losing, lacking lustre, giving up and bowing out.

Being a rapper in Kenya is tough already. Being a female rapper is even tougher.

Sauti Sol won. And that's a good thing. But it's sad - even terrifying - that they were our ONLY worthy contenders in all of the array of categories spread out across the table.

We have Nameless and Why and Redsan and Wyre and Nazizi and Willy Paul and a billion other acts most of who,to be brutally honest,are just a bunch of lyrically-challenged, girl-obsessed masters of illiteracy and mediocrity.

And that's where we throw in Timmy Tdat and pretty much every other thing that records at Pacho to simply choke up the nightclubs with bland, perishable dance anthems.

Sauti Sol has been doing mighty things all these years, hence the flurry of nominations and wins, but for the love of God, where is the rest of the gang?

Besides the couple of stoned hip-hop heads who gather at Alliance France every Friday evening,who else is a fan of Wangechi?

Besides the 16,000 YouTube yobs who live for a couple wordplays and sleek punchlines who else is a fan of Rabbit?

Is Octopizzo even rapping anymore? Oh he is? I thought he moved into being a full time father, sleep - deprived Instagrammer and a prophet of a couple Kakuma refugees.

Our acts are a joke. A bad, dry joke. And our DJs aren't even helping.

I mean,we have Diamond Platnumz pushing collaborations with the likes of Ne-yo and then we have Wahu working with Sudi Boy - and DJ Creme de la Creme - to give us a totally pointless song we immediately forgot about.

There was a time we had Wahu and Amani and all these other big shots getting all these international nods and even plays.

But Amani moved on to raising rabbits. And we aren't sure Juacali even knows what the hell he's doing anymore.

Our entire music industry has been rundown by cheap, Pacho-inspired rotten bouncy beats meant to whip up ratchet girls and bummed out college kids.

Besides Sauti Sol,who have been allover the place all these years, no one else seems to be getting it - or caring.

Our biggest names have all gone under or focused on raising their families and agriculture.

While our new kids on the block are like your younger brothers who fell out of college to chase a career that's defined by stupidity, trashy Instagram, lame collabos and funny pink online tuxedos.

While Nigeria is bursting at the seams with all this mighty talent (both old and new) we are stuck with some teenage kid who relishes sitting on the President's chair and whining his day away.... For his little, teenage gang of losers.

For every Tekno, Rayvanny, Minz ,Korede Bello or AKA what do we have to produce?

We're stuck with an industry that's so grossly inward looking, so limited, so fixated on simplicity and locality, so thin and so myopic we can't even make an impact right across the borders - leave alone continentwide.

After all these years,our acts, our industry and our talents have refused to hatch a dominant plan that makes them not just local artists but continental supernovae.

All this years, our talents have watched new acts from elsewhere come and take over their own industry.

We've allowed Tanzanian acts come and ravage our own soil, come and own our own spaces, steal our won fans, dominate our own airwaves and crow like royal cockerels in our own neighborhoods.

Our industry has been intimidated and swept clean - our best acts have been silenced and compromised as we continue churning out stuff of Bahati's lacklustre calibre.

Stuff that cannot even compete with the lowest of Sudanese upstarts in downtown Juba.

For instance, who is our Yemi Alade? Our Tiwa Savage? Our Vanessa Mdee?

And please don't even get me started on Akothee.... We all know we can do burgers. In fact, should do better.

What if (God forbid) Sauti Sol were to break up? Or move to Holland to start families and never have to sing again. Who would be left round to still fly our flag high? Who would always shine for us at those international award ceremonies? Would we even have an industry to talk of in the first place?

Suppose Sauti Sol were to retire and Fancy Fingers was forced to hang up his guitar? Who would still shine bright for us? For our little, ravaged country? Heck, who would we even send to the State House to entertain our dignified guests? Bahati? Again? Lord please.

The only Awards our local artist still look forward to and lust after are our locally assembled Awards that are normally so obscenely rigged no one takes them seriously any more.

Actually,we don't even have Awards outside of the Gospel realm.

That's an industry that has died so much, cringed so much, hurt so deep, I cringe at the very thought of it.

It's time we let Sauti Sol rest and time we helped them shine on our behalf too.

One boy band cannot be the dominant sound of the nation for half a decade. One boy band cannot continue being the synonym to Kenyan Music for the next half a decade. And one boy band cannot continue being the face of the crumbling industry for the next generation. Sauti Sol, like the Maasais and the Lions and the Savanah,has become the other face of Kenya.

And yet we have tons and tons of artists who hit the studio daily. And release new 'songs' daily.

If only these new singles had a more crossover appeal, if only these songs didn't just confine their sound to the Nairobi City borders, of only our artists cared more than just the occasional concert at a William Ruto event, if only our talents had better songwriters, better visions, better management, better drive and of only we didn't just do songs to get people all sweaty and sticky at crammed house parties in Buru Buru.

But as the rest of Africa (and Sauti Sol) continues sweeping away the continent, bagging award after award, driving markets wild and even getting nods from international music channels, the rest of our industry will continue churning out baby class rhymes, house party anthems, William Ruto tunes and dreary, Jesus-ish mumblings for a half-drunk, half-broke Christian audience.

Kill the remaining part of the industry already. And I'll announce the funeral - it's this Friday.
