22-year old University student Elvis Otieno Atieno will take home a grand prize of Sh1 million after winning the East African Breweries Limited (EABL) Logo Competition dubbed Got Skillz.

Elvis, who is a third year Film and Animation student at the Multi-Media University (MMU), beat 20 other contestants to emerge top in the competition held on Saturday last week at Nairobi Garage.

On top of the Sh1 million, he will also undergo mentorship at WPP-Scangroup, where he will get the opportunity to learn from some of East Africa’s most experienced creative designers, giving him a chance to develop his skill into a career.

Upon winning the competition, Elvis said that he learnt of the competition from a friend and he was very happy to have won.

It was overwhelming, I still don’t know what to do or say but I am very happy. My friend sent me a screenshot of the competition and I just submitted my design,” the Jovial Elvis stated.

John Kinyanjui (25) came in second and will take home Sh500, 000 as Wiptem Creators which was represented by Patricia Nkirote and Teddy Sananga, came in third and will take home Sh300, 000.

EABL’s Got Skillz? Was an East African competition that asked young creatives of between the age of 21-25 to submit logo designs and the winner’s Logo would be used as the official EABL company logo.

380 submissions were made before the judges shortlisted the top 20 who faced off in a hackathon where the best three were selected by judges and awarded.
