Pregnancy and good health need to go hand in hand, not just for the sake of the mother but also for her unborn child.

1. Eggs.

Eggs are healthy and good for pregnancy as they contain vitamins, minerals, proteins and amino acids which are necessary during pregnancy. Eggs also contain choline which is an important nutrient for the overall health and especially that of the brain. Do ensure to cook them properly though.

2. Leafy vegetables.

Green leafy vegetables contain vitamins and many other nutrients which are important for a pregnant woman and they also help improve eyesight.

3. Yogurt.

Yogurt contains a high amount of calcium and protein which are great for the proper development of muscles and bones of the baby. You should try to consume at least a bowl of green yogurt a day.

4. Walnuts.

Walnuts are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and protein and excellent for your health during pregnancy. The copper in walnuts can also help in the growth of the fetus.

5. Sweet potatoes.

Sweet potatoes contain a high amount of fibre, vitamins and folate which help keep the baby healthy. Feel free to add sweet potatoes in your salads and other foods, during preparation.

6. Beans.

Black beans, navy beans and pinto beans for instance, are good sources of iron, folate, zinc and calcium, which help keep you healthy by protecting you from many diseases.
