Could you believe it if we told you that you have been putting on your deodorant all wrong for all these years? Don’t worry, you are not alone and it’s never too late to make it right.
Check out some common mistakes people make with deodorant:
1. Not knowing the difference between deodorant and antiperspirant
The two are actually different. In as much as they are both applied on the underarms, they serve different purposes. So, what’s the difference? Like its name, an antiperspirant prevents you from sweating. On the other hand, deodorant masks the odor that might result from sweating. If you sweat too much, you should invest in an antiperspirant instead of a deodorant.
2. Applying it in the morning
We are all guilty of doing this. Experts suggest that deodorant is best applied at night when your body is less active. That way, it gets enough time to kill the bacteria on your skin that causes body odor.

3. Applying it right after shaving
Your skin is a bit more sensitive after shaving and may react with the deodorant. Give your skin some time to avoid stinging or irritation.
4. Applying deodorant on wet skin
It may not work if you put on deodorant on damp skin. For best results, apply deodorant on completely dry skin.
5. Using it on your clothes
Deodorants are specially made to be applied on the skin. If you spray deodorant on your clothes, it won’t serve its purpose to mask body odor.
7. Using it only on your underarms
Especially during the hot months, you should apply deodorant on other parts of the body such as behind your knees and other areas that sweat more.
