Weight loss is such a sensitive thing and even a well-intended comment may come out as a negative one. This person is probably struggling with body image issues hence the reason they are trying to lose weight. As such, when talking to them regarding their weight, you will need to be very careful and avoid saying certain things.
If you do not know what to say or how to say it, it’s better to preserve your comment.
1. Just a bite won’t do you any harm
If they have clearly said that their diet is sugar or wheat-free, don’t try them or insist they take a bite. You are supposed to be supportive instead of trying them to eat the very thing they are so much avoiding.
2. Are you sure you can eat that?
Maybe you just mean to remind your friend that they are on a diet. But you shouldn’t be policing them. Dieting is hard enough and cheat days are allowed.
3. Have you tried this diet? It worked for me
What worked for you may not necessarily work for your friend. Let them follow their plan and resist the urge to comment on what they choose to eat. It’s their journey and your role is only to be supportive.

4. How much weight have you lost so far?
If they are okay to talk about it, they will tell you. If they haven’t shared with you, it could be that they don’t want to. This can be an upsetting question especially if the person has not lost even a pound or has actually put on some weight.
5. But you are just fine the way you are
Don’t try to make it seem like they won’t look good enough once they lose weight. They might have as well loved their curves but still chose the weight loss journey for the sake of their health.
