Former KTN presenter Esther Arunga on Thursday spoke to reporters after being handed a 10-month parole sentence for lying about her son's death.
Ms Arunga explained that she had lied about her husband's involvement in the death of their son out of fear.
"I was terrified of being alone and I felt terrible because my husband was sick as well," she was quoted by Australian Associated Press.
Esther Arunga re-united with her 2 daughters
The former media personality was later re-united with her two daughters after being separated with them for 5 years.
One of her daughters was six-months old at the height of the court proceedings against Arunga and her husband Quincy Timberlake.
Brisbane Supreme Court Justice Martin Burns expressed his sympathy for Arunga highlighting that the unfortunate events were enough punishment for the now mother of two.
"You went from being a wife and a mother, who was at that time nursing a six-month-old baby and who was otherwise trying to establish your young family in a new country, to losing your son, husband and daughters.
"You must be taken to have been in shock at the death of your son at the times when you were interviewed…and further to be grieving at your loss.
"You clearly deferred to (your husband) for most of what you said and did and demonstrated a real sense of obligation to him," the judge outlined.
