Governor Mike Sonko sensationally claimed that he used to smoke bhang with his Kiambu counterpart Ferdinand Waititu when they were Members of Parliament.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Wednesday night, Governor Sonko claimed to have been a witness to this.

"He used to smoke a lot of bhang when he was an MP, I'm a witness to this, we used to go to a certain toilet there... we used to smoke a lot of bhang with this guy," Sonko said.

"He was hiding bhang in the socks.. he rolls so many... I'm a witness... I'm not smoking anymore him he's still smoking as the governor of Kiambu," he added.

The Nairobi County boss also asked Waititu to refrain from the drama as they were now in charge of counties and the job comes with a lot of responsibilities.

He urged the Kiambu county boss not to use tribal politics when discussing Nairobi politics since the capital hosts people from all walks of life.

Sonko responds to Waititu

Sonko was responding to Governor Waititu's claims that Nairobi was for everyone and his orders to decongest the city would inconvenience business owners.

Waititu had faulted Sonko on his tried and failed effort to bar Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) from the city centre.

The Kiambu governor referred to Sonko as a ‘mad man’ who is inconsiderate to business owners in the matatu industry.

He further accused Sonko’s administration of not involving residents through public participation in the proposed BRT.
