President Uhuru Kenyatta is confident that he managed to change the perspective of US President Donald Trump concerning the Africa continent, who is on record referring to Haiti and African countries as sh**hole.

Speaking during an interview on BBC, Mr. Kenyatta was put on the spot to explain whether Trump was a President he could conduct business with after the derogative comment that caused uproar.

President Kenyatta divulged that he chose not focus on the past instead extensively explained to Mr. Trump what Africa was all about.

"I think what we need to do is basically create a better understanding of the situation and I think I had a good opportunity to do that.

"I will not say he is not a man who is not willing to listen, he did listen. We exchanged on a wide variety of issues and I think he has a much better understanding of Africa, and Kenya after our session," he said.

Kenyatta went on to describe the US President as a man who wants to do deals by partnering with other countries.

"I think he now has a better understanding and that is how I would look at the issue. I wouldn’t look at it in terms of the past," he said.

The Head of State insisted that during their talks he made it bluntly clear that Africa was no longer seeking handouts from the First World countries.

"There has been dramatic change across the African continent where people are beginning to get a better understanding of themselves, who they are and where they want to be.

"And we are looking at how we can partner with countries across the globe in a partnerships that are not patronising but those that are anchored on win-win positions," President Kenyatta said.
