The NASA team led by Raila Odinga on Tuesday released a list of senior officials at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) who they want to be excluded in the repeat presidential elections slated for October 17.
Those in the list include CEO Ezra Chiloba, voter registration and electoral operations director Immaculate Kasait, head of legal department Praxedes Tororey, head of operations Betty Nyabuto and ICT director James Muhati and Manager Legal Department and Advisor to the CEO Moses Kipkogey.
The NASA leaders demanded their removal claiming they were responsible for bungling the August 8 polls and accused them of being partisan.
In a ruling issued by the Supreme Court last Friday led by Chief Justice David Maraga, the court said the electoral board committed "irregularities and illegalities" during last month's vote, harming the integrity of the election.
"The presidential election was not conducted in accordance with the constitution, rendering the declared results invalid, null and void," Chief Justice David Maraga said and ordered for a fresh election within 60 days.
Raila has rejected the October 17 date set by IEBC failed to consult him and other stake holders as stipulated in law.
The NASA leader insisted there would be no elections until their demands were met including the staff changes at the IEBC they had requested.
"The independence of the IEBC is not negotiable. NASA coalition demands that fresh election should be administered by a professional and non partisan officials. We demand that officials who are partisan or perceived as such should step aside and or be suspended during the planning and execution of the fresh election," a statement by the NASA principals read in part.
