Jubilee party lawmaker and leader suspended for holding illegal meeting

Things fall apart at Jubilee party meeting

Jubilee party leadership has cracked the whip on errant party leaders, suspending them until further notice.

The party leadership clarified that the two officials had been suspended for holding an illegal meeting that saw members of the Murang’a County Assembly exchange blows outside a hotel.

Acting Murang’a branch chairman Simon Gikuru who is on suspension has effectively been replaced by Francis Muheria.

Also on suspension is MCA Charles Mwangi who serves as the chairman to the party's caucus in the Muranga County Assembly.

The drastic action was announced by Murang’a county branch Secretary-General Samuel Macharia who disclosed that the changes would pave way for investigation on the conduct of the two leaders for holding an illegal meeting.

The meeting held yesterday ended in fist fight after the MCAs disagreed over house leadership, painting the party in bad light.

Macharia stated that “the disciplinary committee will look into this matter carefully and while doing so, Mr Gikuru and Mr Mwangi are not allowed to transact any business on behalf of the party".
