2 police officers shot dead in ambush

The pistols of the slain officers were stolen in the deadly attack.

Two police officers were killed in an early morning ambush in Nairobi.

The two officers attached to the Kayole Police Station , were shot dead at Matopeni area by unknown attackers.

The assailants also took away the officers’ pistols in the attack.

Police officers from the nearby Kirima Administration Police Camp found their bodies on the road at 4am Saturday morning.

"They received information that gunshots were heard in Matopeni area. The officers responded and on arrival at the road towards Kayole North Primary School they found two bodies," a police report read.

The dead were identified as Police Constables Linus Inima and James Gitahi.

The bodies of the slain officers were transported to the Kenyatta University Hospital Mortuary.
