Nairobi County MCAs on Tuesday elected a new temporary speaker.

The MCAs elected Nairobi County Assembly Majority Chief Whip Chege Mwaura as acting speaker following impeachment of Beatrice Elachi.

Ms Elachi who was impeached during a special sitting on September 6 has since obtained conservatory court orders reinstating her into her position.

During the process, 103 members voted in favor, 2 voted against and 2 abstained.
