Consider adding lettuce to your salad dinner as it will help you sleep better. It contains lactucarium which has sedative effects similar to those in opium. You can also simmer them in water and drink a cupful.

2. Almonds

Almonds contain Magnesium which is not only good for your bones but also for a good night sleep. According to experts, it becomes harder to remain asleep when the Magnesium level is too low in the body.

3. Kiwi

This super nutritious fruit also has sleeping effects and is perfect when consumed before bed. Kiwis have high amounts of fiber enhancing digestion as well as preventing inflammation making it easier to sleep. Also, kiwis contain serotonin which is a chemical that regulates the sleep cycle.

4. Fish

Most types of fish contain vitamin B6 which promotes better sleep through production of serotonin. Serotonin aids in synthesizing melatonin which is in charge of inducing sleep. Salmon and Tuna fish are better sources of Vitamin B6.

5. Turkey

Although other poultry such as chicken also help in sleeping well, turkey is the best source of tryptophan. Tryptophan is an amino acid that is necessary for the synthesis of serotonin.
