Deputy President William Ruto was on Monday spotted in an act of kindness during a New Year's eve bullfighting competition in Kakamega.

Dr Ruto stooped down and helped Ikolomani Member of Parliament Benard Shinali to tie his shoelaces.

The legislator was struggling to tie his shoelaces with a cast on his left arm when the DP offered a helping hand.

DP Ruto was the chief guest at the 2018 Milanya grounds bullfighting competition that took place on Monday.

He hailed the event as a celebration of cultural activities that need to be upheld.

"Culture is a repository of knowledge, beliefs and attitudes that enable communities to forge and preserve their identity.

"We procure more gains from blending the old with the new, including socio-economic benefits and remodeling culture into a vibrant, tourism tool," he posted.

He arrived at the Milanya grounds early in the morning and was accompanied by Ford-Kenya deputy party leader Boni Khalwale.
